We have started the summer holidays and I am finally writing this blog about a very special girl and her horse.
Ellie’s mum had arranged for me to photograph her daughter Ellie with her gorgeous horse Luna in Burley. Luckily the stables backed out onto the New Forest so after a quick chat about outfits and what we were going to do we headed out. As it is summer we met in the evening to make the most of the softer golden light.
Photographing horses comes with its many challenges and Luna was a little uncomfortable with the flies around her and frightened of dark places and other noises. Her owner Ellie is a complete natural in front of the camera and with gentle coaxing and love, we managed to get some stunning images. As we were in such a naturally beautiful part of the New Forest, we didn’t have to go far for backdrops. Ellie also found me the most amazing tree, which made for great photos. Here are a few of my favourites.
